Augusta is centrally located between some great fun-filled activities. Day trips are a great way to get away from your daily life and explore new adventures.  You can find family-friendly activities that are within a two and a half hour drive. You will find Columbia, SC to be the closest day trip then Atlanta and Savannah.

Columbia, SC: Columbia is South Carolina’s state capital, there you will find the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Garden with fun-filled activities for the kids, a wide range of animals, and beautiful botanical gardens. There are countless museums filled with interesting facts and history.  The South Carolina State MuseumEdVenture Children’s Museum, and the Military Museum are just a few museums to visit. If you are into history, try taking one of the historic home tours you will find there. You can tour the Robert Mills House, Hampton-Preston Mansion, Mann-Simons Site, and the Woodrow Wilson Family Home. If you enjoy exploring the outdoors, you may be interested in Lake Murray or Congaree National Park.

Atlanta, GA: Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and is the site of the 1996 Olympics. You will find endless options when finding something to do. The kids will love the home of the largest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere at the Georgia Aquarium, which houses thousands of different species. After the aquarium, stop over to the World of Coca-Cola and learn the history of the World’s most popular soft drink. You can also take a sneak-peak into the CNN Center by taking a tour of the global headquarters of CNN. If you are into sports, try catching a game to cheer on the Atlanta Braves.

Savannah, GA: Savannah is known for its historic squares, Spanish moss-covered canopies, Forsyth Park, and ghost tours. There is a total of twenty-two historic squares in Savannah, each with its story and the Spanish moss-covered canopies speaks for themselves as they are breathtaking. Take a stroll through Forsyth Park, find the beautiful park fountain, and take in the gorgeous environment that surrounds you. After spending the day exploring downtown, check out some of Savannah’s infamous haunted locations taking one of the many ghost tours. The city’s history and beauty can simply not be put into words, it’s something you must see with your own eyes!
